I like MIA ;) And to be honest, I applaud her for performing while pregnant :D She also had the baby several hours after the Grammys!! As for this post, I agree that Hip-hop hasn't been what it was during the 90's and it literally peaked at about 2002ish in my opinion. I too often find myself listening to tracks from way back in the day. Commercial/Pop music is what drowns the radio waves these days and I never listen to it for this reason. So whatever I do listen to or hear, it's usually from YouTube or browsing iTunes for something 'new' and refreshing.

Late response...there seems to be a trend in female hip-hop artists of wearing very tacky clothes. I identify this trend by only 3 instances, so I'm making what could easily be an unfounded accusation. :-)

Hey Rhy,

I'll tell you what, I've gone way out of touch with music recently, so my exposure has been limited. I do remember she looked damned silly at the Grammys this year (if you're going to perform at 9 months pregnant, don't wear an outfit that makes you look like a polkadot beetle). I'll do a little searching and enlighten myself later today :)

I don't know that she's specifically categorized as Hip Hop, but I find the sound very similar to some other artists I like who are called Hip Hop. Do you like MIA?
